IN CHARACTER

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: it's the romance game! simran's extra touch-starved and likes most physical affection, even when it's platonic.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: let's talk about it! simran's easier to injure than most and i don't want to put her in a place where she can't participate in the story, but she did get conscripted to the psychic detective squad so violence isn't alien to her.
RELATIONSHIPS: (road work ahead voice) i sure hope she does! simran is bi as far as questions of compatibility are concerned
PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: simran borders on impossible to read specific information from, but it's not obvious how. she doesn't "block" mental abilities, but her brain naturally dumps out encrypted junk in place of genuinely useful information. as far as outright psychic attacks are concerned (stuff that's just trying to injure her or shut her down), she's tough but not invincible. also, she spends a lot of her time as a psychic phantom and does have some minor illusory ability; see here for details/permissions.
MAGICAL INFORMATION: not much going on here, except that her psychic defenses work equally well on psychic or magical impulses.
MEDICAL INFORMATION: simran has a (fictional) degenerative myopathic disease called raglan syndrome. it attacks striated muscle tissue, and leads to weakness in the heart, lungs, and skeletal muscles. she takes a medicine that slows the progression of this disease significantly, which has extended her expected lifespan from months to decades.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: simran's backstory is not heavy on extreme racism, but she's a trans girl from a secular family of mixed hindu-muslim background who grew up in post-9/11 america, and then she spent two years working with an iraq war vet. potential CWs include: islamophobia, war & its effect on civilians, US imperialism, racism & racist violence, queerphobia/transmisogyny, & her (formerly) terminal illness. there may also be some mentions of sexual violence in the context of racism or ableism, though simran's natural inclination is to be somewhat ginger about this topic in particular.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

VISUAL: she's 5'7"/170cm, kind of medium-dark brown that broadly fits into emoji skintone 4, and fairly slight—she's been living off an IV for the back half of her teenage years, after all. her hair is truly fantastic: shiny, wavy, and gorgeous. she looks basically her age (19.) she uses a cane that's made of 21st-century materials.
AURAL: androgynous, slightly melodic voice; she's not audibly ESL to english-speakers, but she pronounces consonants with a notable degree of crispness in proportion to how unfamiliar she is with a situation. for example: around strangers it's "twenty," but it becomes "twenny" around people she knows.
OLFACTORY: simran's hair smells as good as it looks, and is scented with coconut and vanilla.
DEMEANOUR: simran tries to aim for a friendly and approachable air. "motherly" is a bit much given her youth, but she can sometimes manage "big sister." there's a noticeable skittishness under all this, though; she rarely feels like she fits in anywhere.

OR: an extended description of simran's psychic powers.

simran spent a decent chunk of her life in a cryo tube psychically projecting herself out into the world. although she's no longer in said tube, she's still disabled enough that she often relies on the psychic projection to conserve her body's energy and health. this projection, as well as the rest of her abilities, works by passively interfering with people's senses; her projection wouldn't appear on a normal video camera, for example. however, it's also relatively non-invasive: for sight, her powers intervene at the optic nerve, rather than within the brain, and at equivalent locations for other senses.

as a rule of thumb, though: her psychic illusions are not resilient. while she can evoke a fair amount of information in the mind of an observer, it's not difficult to notice that it's false, and once you pierce the illusion, there's little more she can accomplish.
